How to knit an i-cord

Remember the old French Knitting? Using a wooden cotton reel with 4 small nails in one end? And the miles of it you made as a kid, using up every odd scrap of knitting yarn you could get your hands on? Well... that was an i-cord... (not sure of Apple's take on that...)

From that I went to knitting the likes of legwarmers using 4 double-ended knitting needles. This, again, is the same principle... You knit a tube...

i-cords are so versatile because you are not restricted to 4 stitches as with the cotton reel, nor large sizes as with the double-ended needles... It is all up to you! And you can incorporate them into other items! I haven't tried that yet, but this video makes it sound sooooo easy, and there's a bit of history too:
