Barbie's trousers designed to do up at the back

Should Barbie's trousers do up at the back or at the front? In truth, it doesn't really matter, except when it comes to writing up the knitting patterns when all sorts of quandaries arise.

I decided early on that I would plan for Barbie's trousers to do up at the back. This meant that I could consistently talk about the seam at the front, and the seam at the back with the opening.
This decision was helped by the fact that Barbie has a very small waist and quite big hips and bottom, which provided a handy, little hollow in her back for the snap fastener to sit. This looked better from the front too as the extra bulk of the fastener did not have any visual impact. However, of course, it is up to the child as to how Barbie will wear her clothing, so this does mean that trousers must also look good with the fastener at the front, and indeed must be neat and tidy on the inside too!
