Why are knit4dolls knitting patterns so large?

People often ask why are our knit4dolls knitting patterns like books with dozens and dozens of possible outfits available as opposed to just a couple of outfits for fashion dolls and action figures... and it all boils down to finances!

A ball of Rowans Classic Siena 4-ply cotton yarn currently costs around £5, and more if you have to pay an online delivery charge too. So I believe that you need to have the opportunity to use as much of this yarn as possible. Obviously with 1 ball of yarn, you only have the choice of 1 colour. So if you buy 2 or 3 balls to provide a variation in colour, you will need more knitting patterns to make more items of clothing to produce a good variation of fashion styles... and to make the most of all your yarn.
I usually recommend that you start off knitting a small/short item first to get the hang of my, perhaps unusual, knitting patterns, and thereinafter knit the larger items first. As the ball of yarn gets smaller and smaller, choose the smaller items and then finish it off with shoes, and even contrasting shoelaces.
Always keep any odd bits of yarn as they are so handy for little items. And use them up first in preference to starting with a larger ball...
