Stick to my design 'rules'... or not! Part 1...

Since I have been designing clothes for dolls, I have made it a 'rule' that it is always better to go a tad bigger than to make something that is too small.

Clothing that is too small may not be able to be worn and will therefore waste yarn, time, effort... and may, rightly, annoy the child. So if I find that the item I'm knitting measures just slightly less than the given measurement, then I always knit more.

It is also important to me that clothing and accessories should look and function as realistically as possible within the realms of feasibility. I find that when I am designing an item and I cannot 'get it right', I tend to leave out the problem bit altogether and see what the result is like. Most times it's OK, or else I'll abandon it... 'Quick and Easy' is the knit4dolls motto!

But now I am tempted to deviate from these 'rules'... but I know it's wrong. The item that is causing such anguish is a Barbie T-shirt, and I can break both rules in one fell swoop!

Have a ponder on what the dilemma might be...
